Our help pages

  1. Step 1

    Visa

Most foreign nationals need a visa for India, and many can apply online for an e-Visa.
    • Check whether your nationality can use the e-Visa on the official Indian e-Visa portal (opens in a new tab).
    • Apply only on the government site; unofficial sites can add their own fees.
    • Eligibility, fees, validity and accepted entry airports change, so confirm them for your dates.
    • Need hotel confirmations or an itinerary for your application? We can share them. See visa assistance.

We do not issue visas or promise any approval. Check current rules before you travel.

  2. Step 2

    Flights

Kochi (COK) and Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) are Kerala's nearest international airports.
    • Kochi (COK) is the closest airport for Fort Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and the Alleppey backwaters.
    • Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) is closest for Kovalam and Varkala on the southern coast.
    • Chennai and Bengaluru are alternative gateways: domestic flights to Kochi take about an hour from Bengaluru and about 1 hour 15 minutes from Chennai.
    • On longer trips, flying into Kochi and out of Thiruvananthapuram avoids backtracking. Compare options with our flight booking help.

We are not an airline or ticketing agent; tickets are issued by the airline or its authorised sellers.

  3. Step 3

    Arrival and transfer

Our international packages start with a private car pickup at the airport.
    • Private AC car with driver for all transfers and sightseeing
    • Fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance
    • Meet & greet at Kochi airport with a name board
    • English-speaking driver throughout
    • Help buying a local SIM card
    • English-speaking driver
    • Send us your flight number and arrival time so the driver can meet you.
  4. Step 4

    Stay and route

Start in Kochi, go up to the hills, come down to the backwaters and finish on the coast.
    • A first night in Kochi after a long flight is easier than driving straight up the hill roads.
    • Kochi to Munnar is about 4 hours by road; Munnar to Thekkady about 3.5 hours; Thekkady to Alleppey about 4 hours.
    • Two nights per stop keeps long drives to every other day.

Practical facts for your first days in India

General travel information, not legal or medical advice. Where rules can change, check the official source.

  • Money: Indian rupee (INR)

Prices on this site are in Indian rupees (₹). Hotels, larger restaurants and shops take international cards; small shops and auto-rickshaws often want cash. ATMs are common in towns.

Check: Ask your bank about foreign transaction fees before you leave.

  • Power: 230 V, Type C, D and M plugs

Electricity is 230 volts and the sockets take Type C, D and M plugs, which differ from many countries. Pack a universal adapter, and a converter for devices that only run on 110 V.

  • Pre-book your transport

Arrange the airport pickup and a car with driver before you land. Hill roads are narrow and winding, so a driver who knows them is the easiest way to travel between stops.

  • Dress and temple etiquette

Light, loose clothes work best. Cover shoulders and knees in towns, villages and religious sites, and take your shoes off before entering homes and temples. Some temples allow only Hindus inside; staff will tell you.

  • Drink bottled or filtered water

Most hotels provide filtered water or bottles, and houseboats include drinking water. Avoid ice from unknown sources.

Check: For vaccines and medicines, ask your own doctor or a travel clinic.

  • Travel insurance recommended

Our packages do not include travel insurance. We recommend a policy with medical cover before you fly.

Short, factual answers. For visa and entry rules, the official portal is always the final word.

Kerala is part of India, so India's visa rules apply. Most foreign nationals need a visa, and many can apply for an e-Visa on the official Government of India portal (indianvisaonline.gov.in). We do not issue visas or promise approval. Check current rules before you travel.
